Rural development

Changing agricultural practise due to shifts in the world market and demography lead to changes in land use. Overexploitation at one hand and land abandonment at the other cause a range of environmental and social problems in our world. We have a research focus on sustainable land and soil use, as well as water management. Drainage and irrigation projects are carried out all over the world, as well as restoration of degraded soils.
Furthermore we develop advanced geo-ICT methods for inventories, monitoring and prediction of spatial processes and standardization, integration and data-assimilation for multi-scale approaches of these processes.
At the society level we are experienced in the design of peri-urban areas and the development of leisure and tourism activities.
