International focus on research
Alterra with five research centres at Alterra (600 staff) and a cooperation with 20 chairs in Wageningen University (300 staff) has a wide range of expertise on the environmental issues we meet today. In this very wide range, we distinct a clear focus on four main topics: rural development, biodiversity and ecosystem services, climate change and adaptation, and risk management. These topics find their roots within the five specialisations (i.e. soil, ecosystems, geo-information, landscape, and water and climate).
