Peatwise is a joint undertaking of the University of Leicester, University of Malaysia Sarawak, University of Palangka Raya and Wageningen University and Research Centre.
Together with the EU Asia-link programme, the Department of Science and Knowledge Transfer of the Netherlands Ministry for Agriculture, Nature and Food quality, these are all the organisations which were involved in the project.

- Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) is a leading international knowledge institute in the fields of nutritional health, sustainable agricultural systems and environmental quality. Our path-breaking research and innovative education form a vital contribution to the quality of life.
- WUR consists of Wageningen University, eight Research Institutes, two applied Research Institutes and a Training and Advisory Centre. WUR has 6500 staff and over 4500 students. The research institutes carry out strategic, applied and practical research for businesses, governments and stakeholder groups. The University’s strength lies in its fundamental and strategic research. Its graduates are employable in a brood range of fields.
- The Research Institutes and University work together closely in five areas of expertise: Agrotechnology & Food, Animal, Environmental, Plant and Social Sciences. Current important research themes include food safety and the green environment.
- Partners in PeatWise: The International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (Alterra-ILRI) and the Department of Soil and Land Use of Alterra, the Research Institute for the Green Environment, and the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing (CGI) of the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Wageningen University.
