Most first-tier environmental risk assessment frameworks for pesticides are conservative.
It is the registrants’ responsibility to show through higher-tier risk assessment studies that the pesticide under consideration can be used safely.
A more refined assessment of the risk of the pesticide can be achieved by conducting experiments or by performing higher-tier modelling. We have all the facilities, skills and experience at our disposal to design, manage and perform high quality environmental fate and effect studies to assess the risk of a pesticide at a higher tier.
We employ a code of conduct to guarantee the independence of the research.
The latest version of the code of conduct is available: Code of Conduct
We can offer:
-
Design and conduct of experimental effect studies in laboratory and field(e.g. SSD’s, micro/mesocosm experiments)
-
Design, management and conduct of experimental fate studies in laboratory or the field
-
Higher-tier scenario development for groundwater and surface water
-
Higher-tier modelling including techniques as calibration, sensitivity analysis and the optimisation of parameters
-
Scientifically based refinement of processes in existing models (PEARL, GeoPEARL, TOXSWA, PERPEST)
-
Meta-population modelling (MASTEP)
-
Experimental field station
-
GLP-compliant studies
