Code of conduct for services in the field of environmental risks
of plant protection products



1. Alterra bv is an independent institute, and researchers of the Alterra Pesticides Group perform tailor-made 
    strategic and applied research in the field of environmental fate and effects of plant protection products for 
    governmental authorities, industry and other stakeholders.

2. We provide consultancy services on the basis of state-of-the-art scientific knowledge and impartiality.

3. In case of research funded by government (directly or indirectly, including co-financing) the data obtained are 
    Part of  the public domain, unless the funding governmental organisation decides otherwise in advance.

4. The results of research fully funded by industry are considered to be confidential, unless the sponsor 
    agrees that (part of) results can be freely used (e.g. for scientific papers) or provided to other parties.

5. Consultancy reports provided by us to registration authorities and industry are treated as confidential. The party 
    that funded the consult, however, may decide otherwise.

6. Planned research and consultancy funded by industry to support the registration of pesticides in The 
    Netherlands are announced in advance to the Dutch registration authority (CTB).

7. On the same regulatory aspect of the same active ingredient listed in Annex 1 (EU Uniform Principles) we do 
    not perform experimental research for different conflicting parties.

8. On the same regulatory aspect of the same active ingredient listed in Annex 1 (EU Uniform Principles) we do 
    not perform consultancy activities for different conflicting parties unless the required expert statement 
    is primarily based on open domain data or sponsor data combined with open domain data and models.

9. Researchers of the Alterra Pesticides Group do not provide services that are in conflict with generally accepted
    responsibilities towards other stakeholders, society and environment.
