Multipurpose plantations

Contact person: Anne Oosterbaan
The idea of multipurpose plantations emerged from research into multiple, sustainable forms of land utilisation. For this purpose, trees are used, that produce multiple products (preferably each year), such as fruit, wood and/or nitrogen. These are combined with an agricultural crop, preferably one that benefits from the presence of the trees (or vice versa) in such a way that the system as a whole delivers surplus value, which can then also be marketed, for example, opportunities for recreation.
