Curriculum Vitae:
Education
1999, Bsc. Biochemistry / Molecular Biology
HZ University of Applied Sciences
Senior Research Assistant Molecular Ecology
Key qualifications:
Research at the laboratory of Molecular Ecology of the Centre for Ecosystems Studies covers (in)vertebrate-, as well as plant genetics. Currently, the main emphasis is on mammals, birds and trees. Sidelines cover soil macrofauna, insects, reptile and amphibians.
The lab uses a wide variety of molecular methods such as genotyping techniques like microsatellites, S-alleles, AFLP, SNP-detection and genetic barcoding techniques using mtDNA, cpDNA or rDNA. Moreover, gene expression techniques like real-time PCR and microarrays lie within our scope.
We have specialized in working with low quality DNA samples with amongst others non-invasive and ancient origin.
These techniques are applied in the fields of forensic-, quantitative-, molecular- and conservation genetics and genomics. Molecular data are analyzed using sophisticated statistical analysis and/or ecological modeling.
My primary tasks at the molecular ecology laboratory are:
- Setting up, improve and optimize molecular techniques.
- Perform laboratory experiments
- Write SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Quality management of genetic data.
- Database management
Main fields of expertise:
- Genotyping
- DNA barcoding
- DNA sequence analysis
- SNP detection
- Microsatellites
- Realtime PCR
- Microarrays
- Next generation sequence analysis
- Setting up Standard Operating Procedures
- Database design and management
